The NHDC Home Buyers Education Seminar (HBE) is offered several times a year to assist potential homeowners understand the entire home buying process.  Established in 1997, our HBE seminar has assisted over 1,300 families achieve their dream of home ownership.

 

This eight hour course is coordinated by an experienced housing counselor with years of experience assisting 1st time Home Buyers.  NHDC also partners with industry professionals who volunteer to teach some of the course modules and provide a comprehensive understanding of the home purchase process.

 

As an added benefit, many Down Payment Assistance Programs require some form of Home Buyers Education.  Our HBE seminar fulfills that requirement for most Programs including Alachua County SHIP and the Florida Bond program.

The Course fee is $50** and must be paid one week prior to your scheduled course date. You can pay either by phone with a credit/debit card or check/money order to the office.

 

Important Information:

  • The course requires a financial commitment from participants in the form of a $50 registration fee which includes one lunch. An additional lunch can be purchased for $5.   **This fee is fully refundable if you purchase a home within one year of course completion.
  • Re-take Fee is $25.00 (non-refundable) within 2 years of original class date, anything prior will be full registration fee of $50
  • Deadline to register for the course is ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED COURSE DATE.
  • Please bring a writing utensil (pen or pencil) to take notes and also a calculator.
  • Since the temperature in the room varies from class to class, we encourage you to bring a sweater/sweatshirt
  • Please do not bring children to the class.
  • Feel free to bring snacks in the event you get hungry prior to lunch.

From north of Gainesville head south on I-75.  Take exit 387 toward Newberry.  Turn left at Newberry Road (FL-26 W).  Turn right at Fort Clarke Boulevard.  Take second right onto NW 15th Place.  NW 15th Place becomes NW 80th Blvd.
